The challenges at the newly started Citizen Service Centre (CSC) facility in Mapusa seem to be unending.

After grappling with functional issues, the citizens have now raised safety concerns at the centre.

Women and senior citizens face hardships while accessing the “May I Help You” counter at the CSC facility for Bardez at the Mapusa bus-stand.

A closer look at the new CSC structure reveals that a window which was meant for ventilation has been turned into a “May I Help You” counter.

Further, the wire mesh fencing around the CSC structure has been cut open to make the special entry for the public to the counter.

The cut wire mesh exposes unsuspecting citizens to dangers of getting caught in the wire mesh and some have reportedly got hurt.

Expressing concern over the safety of consumers visiting the CSC, Goacan has written to Mapusa Deputy Collector Akshay Potekar requesting him to take stock of the situation and initiate steps to address the safety of the public.

“It looks like an opening has been hurriedly created by cutting the wire mesh. The cut wire mesh and the pole have been left in such a way that it has hurt some consumers who have visited the CSC,” said Roland Martins, coordinator of Goacan.

Goacan has further pointed out that no formal inauguration of the CSC was done by the administration.
