The gram sabhas of Nuvem, Ambelim and Camurlim in Salcete approved the budget estimates for the financial year 2020-21 on Sunday.
At the Camurlim gram sabha, chaired by Sarpanch Basil Fernandes, the members gave their stamp of approval for the budget estimates, which has proposed water harvesting and a bio-digester to tackle wet waste.
Basil informed that the panchayat proposes to take up water harvesting in the coming year, adding that the process has been set in motion.
On the garbage front, the sarpanch informed that the panchayat proposes to tackle wet waste by procuring a bio-digester.
“We have made provisions in the budget to install a bio-digester to tackle the wet waste in the village,” he
added.
At the Nuvem gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Elvita Costa, the panchayat has approved the budget with the panchayat laying stress on rural sanitation, including the collection of both dry and wet waste.
Ambelim sarpanch Dennica Correira informed that the gram sabha of the panchayat held on Sunday has approved the budget estimates for the financial year 2020-21.
Correia pointed out that the gram sabha has adopted a resolution asking the Election Commission to have its own staff to conduct BLO and other election duties.
She said the gram sabha members passed the resolution as requisitioning of panchayat staff by election authorities for election work had left the work in the panchayat body paralysed. MONEY
