Thousands of people from across Mormugao taluka united to support the Citizens Ammendment Act (CAA) at a mega rally called under the banner of “Mormugao Supports CAA” .  

The mega public rally began from Vasco Kadamba bus stand and culminated at the Vasco Railway station junction via Swatantra Path on Sunday afternoon.  

A large number of people assembled at the KTC bus stand from different parts of the taluka with Indian flags and placards supporting CAA. 

BJP leaders including Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho, former Fatorda MLA Damu Naik, Urban Development Minister Milind Naik, Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida, former MP Narendra Sawaikar, former Minister Rajendra Arlekar, MMC Chairperson Nandadeep Raut ,MMC Councilllors and Sarpanch of Sancoale Panchayat Girish Pillai along with other Panchas were present. Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha was however conspicuous by her absence at the rally.   

A huge police force led by Mormugao Dysp Raju Raut Dessai, PIs Nilesh Rane, Sagar Ekoskar, Pravin Powar, Shailesh Narvekar, Suraj Samant and other teams of Lady police staff were present to avoid any law and order situation and manage the traffic during the rally. 

The BJP leaders opined that the huge turnout for the apolitical support rally proved that people of Mormugao were well aware of the CAA and hence had voluntarily arrived to support the law.  

Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho said that this mega rally was a burning example of how much awareness is prevalent among the people of Mormugao taluka regarding the CAA.

Urban Development Minister Milind Naik said, BJP government has an image that whatever they promise, they put it into practice
