The Wilfred D’Sa Charitable Society, Nuvem, has launched a Covid-19 helpline van and has felicitated health warriors who were at the forefront in the battle against the virus in the constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’Sa said it’s now seven months since people have had to face hardships due to coronavirus in the state. “There was fear all around with people calling up the sarpanchas, panchas, MLAs, doctors and others for help when the pandemic raised its ugly head in the state seven months ago,” he said.
The MLA complimented the health officers of Loutolim, Dr Vinesh Gaonkar, Dr Succoro of Cortalim Health Centre and Dr Martha of the Cansaulim health centre for rendering yeoman service to the Covid patients from Nuvem constituency.
“There was a time when even relatives were not ready to attend to the patients out of fear. We were fortunate to have these health officers and healthcare workers, who reached out to the people of Nuvem constituency and rendered their service,” he said.
The Nuvem MLA pointed out that anyone from Nuvem constituency, who is in need of any Covid assistance, can call on the helpline and avail of the benefit. “Besides the helpline ambulance, people can also avail of medicines, oximeters and sanitizers. We have brought in pumps to sanitize areas affected by Covid,” he said.
