MARGAO
South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha has warned ruling party MLAs, more so the 10 Congress-turned-BJP MLAs, to either choose between the government or the people in the agitation against track doubling and coal transportation.
Saying that public anger against these projects is growing by the day, Sardinha has warned the ruling MLAs that people may not even allow them to move in their constituencies and they may soon come under attack if they don’t side with the
people.
Addressing the media in the presence of District Congress President, Joe Dias, he questioned Salcete Minister Filipe Neri Rodrigues and other MLAs whether they have started loving the BJP for their selfish interests, saying these MLAs should make clear whether they love the BJP or Goa.
“If they love Goa, the 10 Congress-turned-BJP MLAs should tell the Chief Minister to stop the double-tracking and coal transportation projects or change the government,” the MP said, warning that the government should change the decision or the people would be forced to change the government.
He said it is the responsibility of the government to listen to the voice of the people against the double-tracking and coal transportation. “When Goans do not want these projects, why is the government bulldozing?” he wondered.
When the media drew his attention to his past statement favouring double-tracking, Sardinha said, “We don’t want Goa to be made a coal hub. We should not look at yesterday with today’s eyes.”
