Objections filed by the Trinamool Congress to the nomination of Vijai Sardesai for the Fatorda seat gave some anxious moments for the Goa Forward camp, before the Returning Officer rejected the objection after posting the matter for hearing in the evening.
Congress candidate Aleixo Sequeira also heaved a sigh of relief as the objection filed to his nomination that he is holding Portuguese passport was rejected by the Returning Officer.
The objection filed against Aam Aadmi Party candidate Sandesh Talekar’s nomination paper for the Fatorda seat was rejected by the Returning Officer.
Trinamool Congress Fatorda candidate Seoula Vas had lodged her objection to the nomination papers filed by Goa Forward candidate Vijai Sardesai over pending dues payable to the Margao Municipality over banners put up in the year 2021.
The Returning Officer later received another objection by e-mail from one S Gokhale, raising a number of queries on entries in Sardesai.
Hearing of the objections was posted on Saturday evening by the Returning Officer. The objection was later rejected by the Returning Officer.
Goa Forward leader Dilip Prabhudesai told the media outside the office of the Returning Officer that it is obvious now that the Trinamool Congress has come to help the BJP win the coming election, demanding to know why the Trinamool Congress has not fielded a candidate against Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
Congress Nuvem candidate Aleixo Sequeira said the Returning Officer did not see any merit in the objection filed to his nomination paper that he is a Portuguese passport holder.
