Obscene video circulation: Police book 2 under IT Act

Verna Police have filed a case against two men for allegedly circulating an obscene video of a local woman, causing defamation and insulting her modesty.

The accused, identified as Dayasagar Kashyap and Neeraj Kumar”both residents of Sancoale and originally from Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh”are accused of sharing the video electronically with the intent to harm the woman and her family’s reputation.

The complaint was filed by the victim’s husband, who reported that the incident took place on 25th October 2024, around 7:30 PM.

Based on his complaint, Verna Police registered a case under Section 67(A) of the Information Technology Act, along with Section 79, 356(2) read with 3(5) of the BNSS. 

Notices were subsequently issued to the accused under Section 35/3 of the BNSS Act.

Verna Police Inspector Melson Colaco is leading the investigation under the supervision of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
