The Forest department has registered an offence against the party which was allegedly involved in illegal felling of trees at Davorlim village.

Acting on a complaint, the Forest department has said the department has seized the handsaw cutters and koitas used in the felling of the trees.

A Forest official confirmed that the party has illegally cut 10 trees which did not form part of the permission given for felling of trees.  To a question, the forest official pointed out that the department had issued permission for cutting of seven trees, but the party had cut 10 trees which were not part of the permission.

The quantum of fine to be imposed on the party will be decided by senior forest officials, the forest official informed.
