MARGAO
Officials from the Margao Municipal Council, led by Chief Officer Gaurish Sankhwalkar, along with representatives from the Goa State Pollution Control Pollution Board and other agencies, conducted an inspection of the Plasma Gasification Plant in Pune. The plant was set up by a startup company, Ms GD Environmental Pvt. Ltd. (GDEPL).
The Pune-based company extended an invitation to officials from the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB), Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC), Goa Energy Development Corporation (GEDA), and Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA), as well as the Margao Municipal Council, to study the plasma gasification plant. This plant is based on Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) and is designed to generate electricity, with the aim of exploring the feasibility of setting up a similar pilot project at the Sonsodo waste management site.
The Margao Municipal team was led by Chief Officer Gaurish Sankhwalkar, accompanied by Municipal Engineer Deepak Desai, Engineer Ajay Desai, and Councilor Camilo Barretto, who is the Chairman of the Municipal garbage management committee.
The field visit to Pune was organized to verify the operational status and compliance with environmental regulations. If the technology is well-received by government agencies, the Pune-based company will prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the establishment of a similar plant at Sonsodo.
