Stating that PWD officials would be held responsible for the water scarcity in Pernem, Deputy Chief Minister Babu Ajgaonkar has warned them of action if the issue is not resolved within four days.
Addressing a meeting with PWD officials in Pernem on Thursday, Ajgaonkar said the PWD engineers are fully responsible for water supply related issues in Pernem taluka.
“If there is sufficient water, why is it not being released to houses in Pernem taluka? PWD engineers should visit the field and resolve the problems instead of sitting in offices,” said Ajgaonkar.
The officials then assured the deputy CM of resolving water supply problems in the taluka.
The PWD had earlier announced that Pernem taluka would face water shortage from December 1 to 5, as pumps at the Chandel Water Treatment Plant were being repaired.
Ajgaonkar also contacted Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who has reportedly assured him of the required funds to buy new pumps and for maintenance purposes.
