In an apparent show of strength, the BJP Fatorda ST unit on Sunday organised an impressive meeting of Fatordekars at the Multipurpose grounds, Borda, with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant saying the turnout of the people is a clear indication that it will not be difficult for party leader Damu Naik to return to the Goa Legislative Assembly in 2022.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister raked up the Old Goa heritage structure, saying people of Fatorda should go through Form Nos I & XIV on which the name of the treasurer of the Goa Forward Party is existing. “I have not given permission for the structure, but instead of saying the party treasurer’s name is on the form, they are blaming me and my government,” the Chief Minister said.
The CM gave a call to the people of Fatorda to rally behind former MLA Damu Naik to address all the pending issues plaguing Fatorda. “I am not only talking about infrastructure development, but also of human development. I do not know whether people of Fatorda have benefited by the government schemes, including the ones for the ST community”, he said.
He added, “People are talking of who has betrayed Goans. The Congress MLAs had come to me to save Goa when they found that the State was going on the path of destruction when this MLA was part of my cabinet. I feel happy that Goa is now on the path of development”.
The Chief Minister honoured former minister and ST leader Luis Alex Cardozo on the occasion. Cardozo popularly called as Mama spoke highly about the Chief Minister as well as Damu Naik and appealed to the people to vote for the right person in the coming polls.
In his address, Damu Naik cautioned the people to be aware of politicians who will come again to fool them with empty promises, only to forget the promises in the last 10 years.
