Mapusa police on Saturday arrested a 31-year-old man on charges of burglary and recovered valuables stolen from him.
The accused, Sheshishekhar Shivanand Patil from Bijapur-Karnataka, was apprehended based on a complaint from Kissan Narayan Shetkey of Mala-Panaji.
According to the complainant, on the intervening night of June 7 and 8 some unknown persons broke open his hotel premises situated at Duler-Mapusa and decamped with valuables.
Mapusa SDPO Jivba Dalvi informed that a special team of police gathered and analysed information and CCTV cameras and identified the accused.
He further said that after hectic efforts the accused was intercepted at Duler and later arrested.
The accused confessed of committing the crime and the four-wheel spanner used to break the lock was recovered, police said.
The stolen property has also been recovered from the accused.
