BICHOLIM:
Bicholim police have arrested a person from Tamil Nadu on charges of kidnapping and sexual assaulting a minor girl.
According to Bicholim SDPO Jivba Dalvi, a complaint was lodged by the father of the girl stating that in May 2024, the accused Naveenkumar Gaundar had kidnapped his 17-year-old daughter.
Bicholim police registered an FIR and began investigations.
A Bicholim police team consisting of PSI Jayprakash Jankar, constables Mayur Asulkar and Ashwini Gaonkar was deputed to trace the victim and the accused.
Using technical surveillance, the victim was traced at Rasipuram in Tamil Nadu along with accused Naveenkumar Gaunder (26) of Tiruchengode, Tamil Nadu and they were brought to the Bicholim police station.
An FIR under Sections 363 IPC and Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act, 64(2) (i) of BNS and section 4 and 6 of POSCO Act has been registered.
The victim girl has been sent to the Apna Ghar in Merces after a statement before an NGO and a medical examination.
LPSI Sonali Harmalkar is conducting further investigation under supervision of PI Dinesh Gadekar and DySP Dalvi and guidance of SP North Akshat Kaushal.
