Old Goa Police apprehended Amit Kumar Singh (35), a native of Bihar, for molesting a woman who was waiting for a passenger bus at Corlim. This isn’t the first time the suspect has been involved in such an incident.
The event unfolded at the Dhulapi bus stop around 3:40 PM on Friday. The victim, accompanied by two small children, was waiting for a passenger bus when the accused arrived on a motorcycle. He insisted on giving her a lift, but upon her refusal, he began hurling abuses, hugged her, and attempted to forcibly drag her by the arm. He also removed her hijab. Fearing for her safety, the woman screamed, causing the suspect to flee the scene.
The victim promptly reported the incident to the Goa police, who apprehended and detained the suspect on Friday night. Subsequently, he was formally arrested after a case was registered against him under Sections 504, 506(2), 509, and 354B of the Indian Penal Code.
