One dead in road mishap at Curhcorem

CURCHOREM

A 53-year-old scooterist from Hodar-Curchorem succumbed to injuries he had sustained in a road accident in Curchorem. One person has been arrested in this connection.

According to Curchorem PI Shivram Vaingankar, a bus (GA-01-U-2076) dashed the scooter (GA-09-F-0434) from behind in Curchorem on Tuesday at about 6.20 pm. Scooterist Gurudas Naik fell down and sustained facial and head injuries.

Police said Naik was rushed to Curchorem Health Centre and later to Hospicio in Margao. He was later referred to GMC Hospital in Bambolim, where Naik succumbed to injuries on Wednesday at about 3.30 am.

Curchorem Police arrested the bus driver, Xavier Fernandes (36) from Cuncolim and registered the offense under Sections 299, 279, 304(A). Police is investigating the case.
