One held for molestation

MAPUSA: Mapusa Police arrested one person on charges of molesting a woman from Congo near the Mumbai bus-stand in Mapusa on Thursday.

According to police, the 20-year-old victim, who studies in Bangaluru, had come down to Goa on Wednesday. As she was awaiting her bus on her way to Mumbai at Mapusa on Thursday evening, one Uttam Puri (24) from Rajasthan came from behind and began to grope her.

The people around the bus-stand immediately caught hold of him and handed him to police.

Mapusa Police registered an offence under Sections 509, 354, 354 (a) and (c) IPC and arrested him. Mapusa police are investigating the case.

Modesty outraged: offence registered

The Cuncolim police have registered an offence against two persons, who are suspected to have allegedly outraged the modesty of a 55-year-old woman on December 15. According to Cuncolim police, the suspect Jeetendra who is the driver of a bus and Menino the conductor stopped the bus on NH 17 to collect passengers, thereby causing obstruction to the complainant.
