One held for molesting minor

Mapusa Police on Tuesday arrested an accused from Pernem on charges of molesting a minor.
The incident took place on Saturday at about 2.30 pm when a 17-year-old girl studying in a local higher secondary school along with her friends was proceeding home.
On reaching near the Idea showroom at Altinho, the accused on his two-wheeler (GA-11-C-1144) followed her at a certain distance and suddenly caught hold of her hand.
The friends who were accompanying the girl noted the vehicle number of the accused and informed the parents of the victim girl.
Based on the complaint filed by the minor girl’s mother, Mapusa Police on Tuesday arrested the accused, Sachin Haldankar from Naibag, Pernem.
He was arrested under Sections 354, 354 a, 354 d of IPC and Child Act 8 and under Section 11, 12 of POCSO Act. PSI Paresh Ramnathkar is investigating the case.
