MARGAO
A fight between migrants at the Old Market area resulted in a person sustaining bleeding injuries. The victim was later rushed to the South Goa district hospital.
Margao Municipal councillor Vitorino Tavares informed that he was informed by a shop owner that a person was assaulted with a danda and was lying on the ground with severe injuries.
“I immediately called up the Fatorda police to come to the spot since the victim is lying on the ground with severe injuries,” he said.
Tavares further pointed out that the locals of Old Market have been demanding a drive against the migrants loitering around the area, including the Holy Spirit Church square.
While demanding that the police round up the migrants loitering around the Old Market area, Tavares further said that the ambulance took a long time to come at the spot to lift the victim to the hospital.
In fact, the ambulance staff came in for severe questioning by the councillor and local residents as it took considerable time for the ambulance to reach the area.
