MARGAO
The Goa Forward Party (GFP) has claimed that an independent candidate Salvador Miranda on Thursday withdrew his candidature in support of GFP-backed candidate Milagre Norohna from Ward no 8 in the run-up to Margao Municipal Council elections.
Party vice-president Durgadas Kamat said the independent candidate has withdrawn from the fray following Goa Forward Party’s decision to sever ties with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
The press note added that Salvador withdrew in the presence of GFP President and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai, GFP ST Convener and ex-vice Chairperson of MMC Florence ‘Tito’ Cardozo, and Milagre Noronha, Fatorda Forward candidate in Ward No 8.
