Only 41 of 100 Canacona healthcare staff turn up for jab

The Covid vaccine drive at the Community Health Centre in Chaudi Canacona evoked poor response, with only 41 of the 100 healthcare workers turning up to receive the jab on Saturday. None of the 41 healthcare workers reported any side effects.

According to sources, the Covid vaccination drive began at the Canacona CHC on Saturday morning and continued till late evening.

“The target was 100 for the day, but only 41 turned up and were administered the Covishield vaccine. The next dose is scheduled on February 20,” said a source at the CHC.

Canacona CHC Acting Health Officer Dr Jose Tavares was given the first Covid vaccine by a team led by Dr Manish Gaunekar, CMOTB (DHS), followed by other staff, including medical officers Dr Amey Aiya and Dr Sneha Chodankar.

By 2.30 pm, around 22 healthcare workers got vaccinated and the day ended with 41 healthcare staff vaccinated with the Covishield. According to sources, no side effects were reported by those who received the vaccine.
