Chaos as Murgao Mandal, Yuva Morcha, Mahila Morcha hold press conference

VASCO
The authorities' decision to remove decorations and side partitions of Murgaoncha Raja Pandal on Monday has entered into yet another round of allegations and counter allegations and this time with the BJP Murgao Mandal, Yuva Morcha and Mahila Morcha holding an open news conference over the temporary Murgaoncha Raja shed.
The open news conference was organised at Sada bus stop, near Shahid Lt Narendra Mayekar Memorial at Sada, just next to the Murgaoncha Raja pandal, on Sunday.
A huge crowd had gathered and before the news conference could start, chaos prevailed with the other Murgaoncha Raja group members shouting ‘Ganapati Bappa Morya' and assembling in huge number at the pandal, which was situated next to the site where the open news conference was to be held.
Fearing law and order situation, Mormugao Police force rushed to the site.
According to sources, the South Goa district collector has issued orders for removal of temporary decorations from the Murgaoncha Raja shed on November 6. "This area could probably witness chaos and necessary force has been made ready," informed the source.
Speaking on the occasion, the Murgao BJP president Sanjay Satardekar said there are many accusations on MLA Milind Naik and all should realise that the MLA had done a lot of development and they would file legal and defamation cases against those people who spoil the MLA's name and spread rumours through media to simply create religious tensions.
Prasad Prabhugaonker said: "Naik has nowhere said that he will demolish the shed, but only insisted the decorations be removed and this was another tactic by a party to fuel religious tensions at Sada."
Councillor Sarika Palkar said: "The removal of decorations and enclosures of the shed was a great step by Naik as safety measure for lot of women and girls using the bus stop."
"The pandal is next to the bus stop. As long as cultural functions are organised, there is a crowd and people are around but today the shed is covered and dark and it can cause fear among bus stand users, especially the women. Why should the shed be covered after the functions are over," asked Palkar.
