The opposition parties on Tuesday called on the Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly Ramesh Tawadkar requesting to continue with the old convention of allowing alternate questions to opposition and ruling during the upcoming Budget session, set to commence from February 2.
On Monday, the united opposition had held a meeting during which they had warned to boycott the the session pointing out that the legislature department had done away with the conventional practice of allowing one question to ruling and opposition.
On Tuesday, the opposition MLAs led by Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao submitted a memorandum to Tawadkar.
The memorandum is signed by Yuri Alemao, Carlos Alvares Ferreira, Altone D’Costa (all Congress MLAs), Vijai Sardessai (Goa Forward party), Venzy Viegas and Cruz Silva (both AAP) and Viresh Borkar (Revolutionary Goans Party).
Tawadkar on Monday had said that the convention of allowing one question each to opposition and ruling was changed following request by a group of BJP MLAs.
