The Orlim gram sabha on Sunday resolved to demand an inquiry into the fish formalin issue, with members further demanding a ban on the import and export of fish.
The meeting chaired by Sarpanch Tamika Da Silva also saw the members voicing strong objection to the CRZ notification, demanding the government not go ahead with any proposal that provides for reduction of the No development Zone to 50 meters.
One of the members suggested the government build a road along the coast beyond the 200 meter line to ensue there’s no encroachment or development in the NDZ.
The recent issue of formalin in fish figured prominently at the gram sabha which also demanded checks on fruits and vegetables supplied through the Horticulture Corporation.
While condemning the incident, the members called for a judicial probe into the issue, while demanding a complete ban on the import and export of fish in the state.
