Deputy Sarpanch of Salvador do Mundo Rajesh Savoikar claimed that though the project was inaugurated on Wednesday noon, residents of Quitla did not receive water supply till Wednesday night.
Savoikar, in whose ward the OHR has been constructed, said residents of Donwado, Quitla and Saloi were eagerly awaiting the release of water from the newly inaugurated OHR, as they had been facing acute water shortage for a number of days.
“When I tried contacting PWD Assistant Engineer V Raut, he did not attend to the call. On making enquiries, I found out that the temporary electrical connection given to OHR had been disconnected,” said Savoikar.
Savoikar confirmed that there was no water supply till Wednesday night and water was being supplied through tankers.
Former Sarpanch Sanjeev Naik, a resident of Salvador do Mundo, said he had been eagerly hoping for water to be supplied from the OHR.
“It appears that the OHR has been hurriedly inaugurated and the chief minister was not informed properly by the department. The chief minister should conduct an enquiry into this matter,” said Naik.
When PWD Assistant Engineer V Raut was contacted to enquire about the water supply from the OHR, he replied: “Have patience, water will be released shortly.”
