Governor of Goa, P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, has assured the Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) of his full support in its efforts to introduce the vibrant cultural heritage of Tiatr to the state of Kerala.

At a recent meeting at Raj Bhavan, a TAG delegation led by President Anthony Barbosa, accompanied by Vice President Marcos Gonsalves, members Fr. Doel Dias, William Fernandes, Jesus Antao, Simon Barretto, and Member Secretary Suresh Divkar, discussed the proposal to raise awareness of Tiatr among Kerala's Konkani-speaking community.

The Governor expressed a strong interest in learning more about Tiatr, a unique form of drama with a 133-year legacy, and praised its role in preserving the Konkani language and culture. He also highlighted the significant number of Konkani-speaking people in Kerala and emphasised the potential for Tiatr to resonate with them.

In response to TAG's request to showcase Tiatr in Kerala, the Governor, a native of Kerala himself, pledged his full support and suggested establishing a dedicated program to facilitate this cultural exchange.

Following the meeting, TAG President Anthony Barbosa described the discussion as highly productive, reiterating the Academy's eagerness to bring Tiatr and related programs to Kerala. He also acknowledged the previous commitment made by the Government of Goa under Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, which declared full support for the global promotion of Tiatr.
