OLD GOA
The owner of the plot Rajendra Adkonkar, in whose property the PWD has constructed a pump house without his consent, was in for a shock as water was found released despite oral assurances that the pump house would be demolished.
Adkonkar has now warned that the PWD authorities would be responsible for his action if the pump house is not demolished at the earliest.
The release of the water came to light when the pump developed leakage on Saturday evening, resulting in wastage of thousands of litres of water.
The Goan understands that the PWD constructed the pump house near the Subhadra restaurant in Chimbel, to supply water to houses at Datteshwar Colony.
However, the owner objected to the same and even wrote to the Chimbel panchayat as well as the PWD, on June 21, requesting to demolish the pump house so that the land is restored to its original position.
However, Adkonkar, was in for a surprise as water started leaking from the pump on Saturday evening and the same was brought to his notice by the villagers of Chimbel.
Speaking to The Goan, Adkonkar informed that he has been given oral assurance by the PWD authorities, on umpteen occasions, that they would demolish the pump house.
“But today, the leakage of water from the pump shows that they are indiscreetly releasing water instead of demolishing it,” Adkonkar pointed out and warned of consequences if the pump house is not demolished at the earliest.
