Since the time the coronavirus made its presence felt in Goa, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is on the field to fight it out. AAP has tried to offer some solace to the corona impacted patients in various ways. Till Goa finds a permanent solution on Covid and gets full control over the disease, AAP volunteers and leaders will be on the field to extend a helping hand to the Covid patients and their families, assured Rahul Mhambre, State Convenor, AAP while speaking to The Goan in a one-on-one interview on Saturday.
While admitting that during the pandemic, various political parties, as well as social organisations, have tried to help the Covid patients and other needy people, AAP convenor pointed out that the party has been working since the beginning towards supplying all necessary infrastructure to those affected.
AAP started various services for the Covid patients. Those who were home quarantined, needed oximeters and medical kits badly. In the first phase, AAP started providing oximeters and medical kits to those who were home quarantined. The job is still being carried on. Till date, the party has provided oximeters to approximately 500 patients and all of them have largely benefited from this vital instrument to check the oxygen level, stated Mhambre.
The Covid warriors are the real heroes in this tough time. These warriors are being provided with all the equipment and cooperation. Those who are working in the hospitals as health workers, the patients who are admitted and the relatives who look after them, are also being provided with free lunch and dinner. The party has been offering this free food service at Mapusa District Hospital, South Goa District Hospital and GMC at Bambolim.
AAP started doctors’ helpline for those who are home quarantined so that they get medical aid and guidance on time. Many are availing this facility and seeking health advice by contacting the doctors listed in the helpline. The service has proved to be of great help for the people living in urban as well as rural areas, said Mhambre.
The State is still fighting corona. In such a situation, it is the moral responsibility of each citizen in Goa to follow the Covid protocols stringently, appealed Mhambre.
