Anjuna Police have arrested a 29-year-old painter, Faiyaj Alam, on charges of raping a four-year-old girl in Oxel, Siolim.
The incident reportedly took place on Monday evening. Alam, who hails from Bihar but had been temporarily residing in Oxel, is accused of molesting the minor daughter of a foreign national.
According to the complaint filed by the victim’s mother, the child was playing with the accused’s daughter outside his rented room when the alleged assault occurred.
The mother claims Alam touched the private parts of her daughter and sexually assaulted her.
Following the complaint, Anjuna Police registered a case against Alam under Section 65 (2) BNS (rape), Section 65(2) of the Goa Children’s Act, 2003, and Sections 4, 8, and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. Police investigations into the case are ongoing.
