Ashwini Palayekar is set to be elected unopposed as deputy chairperson of the Pernem Municipal Council on Wednesday, as she was the only councillor to file her nomination on Tuesday.
Palyekar submitted her nomination to the Pernem Municipal Council Chief Officer Anil Rane Sardesai in the presence of Madhav Sinai Desai, Usha Nagvekar, Vishakha Gadekar, Shivram Tukoji, Trupti Sawal Desai, Siddhesh Pednekar and Manoj Harmalkar.
The post fell vacant after Trupti Sawal Desai resigned from the post.
Election to the post will be held on Wednesday and since Ashwini Palayekar is the only candidate to have filed her nomination, she is set to be elected unopposed.
Pernem Deputy Collector Deepak Vaingankar will be the election officer at a specially convened meeting to conduct the election in the Pernem Municipal Council hall on Wednesday at 11 am.
