The one near SBI was shut down by GSIDC six months ago and the garbage at that site was processed. This has resulted in the entire waste of Panaji being treated only at a single plant.” rExplaining further, the Commissioner informed, “As we had to shut the plant near SBI, the machinery at that site was shifted to the garbage treatment plant that is coming up behind Heera petrol pump where the garbage was being dumped. The garbage treatment plant behind Heera Petrol Pump was scheduled to begin operations a year back. However, the shed is almost ready except the roofing, as there was some technical problem. GSIDC re-tendered the work on the treatment plant. As the contractor wanted to start the work, he asked us to remove the garbage as it was causing inconvenience to workers.” rStating that CCP has no other site to dump the garbage, he informed that the garbage was shifted from behind Heera petrol pump to the site near Divja Circle.
