Panaji resident arrested for assaulting wife

While the accused surrendered to the Margao police after the assault, the injured wife was rushed to the Hospicio hospital, from where she was shifted to the Goa Medical College and hospital, Bambolim.

The iron rod used in the offence has been recovered by the Margao police.

An eye witness told the police that the accused was found waiting along side the road for some time and was consuming a beverage. No sooner, the wife came on her two-wheeler, the accused assaulted her with the iron rod.

The eye witness said the accused threatened him with a knife when he tried to intervene and rescue the woman. The accused later fled from the scene, but is believed to have later surrendered to the police.
