Panaji traffic plan announced for Independence Day

Traffic restrictions for the State-level Independence Day celebrations at the Old Secretariat will begin on August 14, with DBB Marg fully closed from 8 pm until the function ends on August 15. From 11 am on August 14, the left lane of DBB Marg between Bandodkar Statue and Abade Faria Statue will be closed for pandal erection. From 8 pm, the entire stretch between Ferry Wharf Junction and Bandodkar Statue, in both directions, will remain closed.

Vehicles entering Panaji via New Patto Bridge will be diverted left at Bandodkar Statue, behind the Old Secretariat, via Joao Castro Road and José Falcão Road (Match Corner). Outbound traffic will be diverted at Ferry Wharf towards Police Headquarters and Government Printing Press Junction, then via UCO Bank, Saraswati Mandir Building, Church Square and Cortin, Old Patto Bridge or New Mala Bridge.

M G Road between Abade Faria Statue and Casa International Junction will be reserved for parade parking. The Traffic Cell has advised motorists to plan journeys, follow diversions and police instructions, avoid restricted areas and cooperate to ensure smooth traffic movement.

Road roller worth Rs 8 lakh stolen at Bogmalo

VASCOA road roller worth around Rs 8 lakh was allegedly stolen from Chicolna, Bogmalo, in the early hours of Wednesday, prompting Vasco police to register a theft case.According to a complaint filed by Suraj Phaldessai of Cuncolim, the incident occurred at around 7.30 am on August 12.
