The Se Old Goa panchayat has decided to issue a show-cause notice to the owner of the controversial structure asking why the structure should not be demolished.
The decision was taken at the fortnightly meeting held in the panchayat on Thursday.
Speaking to The Goan, Sarpanch Janita Madkaikar informed that the issue was discussed at the meeting in which it was decided to issue a show-cause notice to the owner of the structure asking why the structure should not be demolished.
“The owner will be given a time of 7 days to reply to the show-cause notice, after which the panchayat will issue a demolition order,” Madkaikar stated.
It may be recalled that the panchayat authorities had conducted an inspection of the structure on January 13 and taken measurement of the same since the structure was deemed to be illegal after revocation of construction and subsequent renewal licenses by the panchayat.
The panchayat had cited violation of ASI permission which allowed only repairs and not reconstruction, violation of CRZ rules which prohibited the sale or transfer of structure to non-traditional community and lastly the revocation of technical clearance by the Town and Country Planning department.
Meanwhile, the fast satyagraha completed 58 days on Thursday with the organisers deciding to limit the participation to the bare minimum in view of rising Covid cases.
A no-entry sign has been displayed and chairs have been placed at the entrance to restrict the entry of visitors.
“It has been decided to restrict the number of people wishing to join the fast to bare minimal on account of rising Covid cases,” said Glen Cabral, one of the organisers.
