PANAJI:

Moving ahead with modernising and streamlining land administration, the State government has constituted a State-Level Committee to frame policies for linking Aadhaar numbers with Records of Rights (RoR) and standardising land records across the state.

The committee will be headed by the Additional Secretary (Revenue) and comprises the Collector or his/her representative, the State Registrar, the State Informatics Officer of the National Informatics Centre (NIC), and the Director of Settlement and Land Records, who will serve as the Member Secretary.

According to the notification issued by Revenue department, the panel has been tasked with examining and devising a policy for linking Aadhaar numbers with Records of Rights, a move expected to strengthen the authenticity and digitisation of land records.

The committee will also work on standardising Records of Rights across the state and provide an additional layer in the Bhunaksha digital mapping system to identify and display converted land parcels.

Further, the panel has been entrusted with specifying deceased owners in the Records of Rights and implementing gender-based Records of Rights, aimed at improving accuracy and inclusiveness in land ownership records.

The government has directed the committee to take all necessary steps to ensure smooth implementation of these measures, which are expected to bring greater transparency, uniformity and efficiency in land record management in the State.
