The St Michael Parish, Taleigao, witnessed a momentous occasion on October 12 with the inauguration of its Women’s Cell, dedicated to promoting the empowerment and active participation of women in parish and community life.
The inaugural Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev Fr Jorge Fernandes, Director of the Diocesan Centre for the Lay Apostolate, who, in his homily, emphasised the need for women to unite and use their God-given gifts for the service of the Church and society.
Parish Priest, Rev Fr Caetano Fernandes, blessed the newly constituted Women’s Cell and expressed his gratitude to Fr Jorge for his presence and encouragement. The core committee of the St Michael Parish Women’s Cell comprises: Selma Gomindes“ Coordinator, Luiza Luis“ Secretary, Ninfa Da Silva-Treasurer, and the following members: Sr Hilda Braganza, Freeda Rodrigues, and Edith Melo Furtado
Twenty-two women took their oath of commitment, marking the official formation of the St Michael Parish Women’s Cell.
