Former CM Manohar Parrikar’s sister, Lata Sankhwalkar got emotional after casting her vote on Sunday, as people began to greet her while she was exiting a polling booth in Miramar.

Sankhwalkar, who was accompanied by a relative on Sunday afternoon, cast her vote and was leaving the polling booth, when people and well-wishers began greeting her.

Sankhwalkar turned emotional and tears welled in her eyes as she was heard telling well-wishers that she missed her Bhai (Parrikar) dearly.

Sankhwalkar said she could not come to terms with the fact that Bhai was no more and added that for the first time in 25 years, Bhai was not present for the Panaji elections.

“Bhai was always a person who would interact with people and there was a different excitement during elections while he was here,” said Sankhwalkar.

Sankhwalkar, who turned emotional, also said memories of Bhai were still afresh in her mind and had only gotten stronger after she entered the polling booth on

Sunday.
