PERNEM
An unhappy former chief minister and senior BJP leader Laxmikant Parsekar said he would declare his future course of action within three days, after being denied the party ticket to contest from Mandrem constituency.
Speaking to reporters, Parsekar said his supporters want him to contest as an independent candidate from Mandrem.
“I will take a decision within the next three days, but in the meantime, I have decided to resign as president of the BJP’s Campaign Committee. I don’t blame the party, but a few leaders for this injustice,” said Parsekar.
Earlier on Thursday, aggrieved supporters of Parsekar convened a meeting and appealed to Parsekar to contest as an independent candidate.
He also claimed that Mandrem’s BJP MLA and the party candidate Dayanand Sopte has been ignorant about issues in Mandrem constituency over the last five years.
