Participants run for fun, family and fitness at Goa’s first famathon

Goa’s first family marathon, ‘Famathon’ organized by the The Goan and the Goan Varta was a huge success after hundreds of family members from across Goa showed up at the Campal ground at the crack of dawn on Sunday.
From children, middle-aged couples to senior citizens, the excitement and enthusiasm was palpable as the marathon commenced. Hundreds of families participated in each of the three groups: five kilometers, three kilometers, and one kilometer run.
The contestants congratulated the organisers for taking the initiative to organize a marathon not only for singles but for the whole family keeping physical fitness in mind.  
On the occasion, Vrinda Kanani organised various entertainment programmes. Following an energetic zumba session, the participants were entertained by singer Varun Carvalho. This was followed by the prize distribution ceremony. A lemon spoon race was also organised for the kids.
Nine lucky persons won the chance to holiday at the Club Mahindra Resort through a draw of lots.
Fomento Media Publisher Menino Cota, Goan Varta editor Sanjay Dhavlikar, Circulation Manager Jayesh Walke, social worker Aparna Palyekar and others were present on the occasion.

VASCOAuthorities seem to have taken note of the long-pending demand of residents of Zuarinagar for installing traffic signals at the accident-prone zone near MES College.
