MAPUSA
When parts of Mapusa town went without water for the last many days, PWD Assistant Engineer Subhash Belgoankar escaped public wrath by keeping his cell phone switched off.
But on Tuesday, he had a taste of public fury when a group of angry citizens after marching to the PWD office gheroed and heckled the assistant engineer for more than an hour.
Later, they sat on the main road opposite the PWD office and blocked traffic for at least 15 minutes.
The livid residents armed with plastic water pots sang Ganapati bhajans and jeered at the AE for remaining a mute spectator while most parts of the town went without water.
“How can we pull on for so many days without water? If we do not get water by today evening, I will commit suicide in front of your office,” said Ramchandra Prabu gesticulating at the AE.
