Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) Chairman and Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo has reiterated that no coal jetty would come up in Aldona as long as he represents the constituency, but said a passenger jetty would be developed to promote hinterland tourism.
He said raising the coal jetty issue was an opposition ploy to misguide and confuse the people but the recent Zilla Panchayat election result has shown that people did not fall into the opposition trap.
“As long as I am the MLA, no coal jetty is coming up in Aldona. What is coming up is only a passenger jetty. This passenger jetty will be used to develop hinterland tourism. We are there to do good development and not to destroy Goa,” Ticlo said.
The Aldona MLA was speaking to the media along the sidelines of a function to launch work on repair of the bund at Corjuem in Aldona.
He further said some people were spreading lies that the roads in Aldona have been widened to felicitate transportation of coal.
“The opposition has been making hue and cry about the coal jetty before the ZP elections to confuse the people. They (the opposition) got no work but only to misguide. That is why people have given a majority to BJP in North and South Goa in the recent ZP polls,” he said.
