A patient was arrested by Mapusa police after causing a ruckus at the Casualty of the North Goa District Hospital in Mapusa.
Luis Savio Ronaldo Fernandes (29) of Sangolda was arrested on charges of abusing doctors and staff in the Casualty and vandalising property in the hospital.
According to sources, the incident took place on Thursday at about 10 pm, when Fernandes who was injured in a road accident in Sangolda, was admitted to the North Goa District Hospital by a 108 ambulance.
He is alleged to have become violent in the casualty, and began abusing the staff, while also damaging tables and chairs, terrifying the staff, patients and their relatives in hospital.
Fernandes caused a ruckus in the hospital for about half an hour.
The patient’s behaviour was captured on video and went viral on social media on Friday morning.
On receiving information about the incident, Mapusa police took the patient into custody. Acting on the complaint of the hospital's medical superintendent, the police registered a case and arrested the suspect on Friday evening.
