Pay parking in Panaji from today

PANAJI

The much-debated Panaji pay parking is all set to get underway from Monday as announced by The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) Mayor Surendra Furtado last week.

The pay parking will be implemented on 18 of Panaji's roads. Cars will be charged Rs 10 for less than 4 hours, Rs 15 for 4 to 12 hours and Rs 20 for more than 12 hours but less than 24 hours. Two and three wheelers would be charged Rs 4 for less than 4 hours, Rs 8 for 4 to 12 hours and Rs 15 for more than 12 hours but less than 24 hours.

Straight Deal Services, that won the contract for their services, will depute 60 workers to implement the pay parking.

Residents of the city that pay house taxes will, however be given passes to park one four-wheeler and one two-wheeler. Rented flats and shops are not eligible for these passes.
