Relatives, friends and villagers bid a tearful adieu to Priscilla D’Cruz as her mortal remains were laid to rest in her home village Loutolim on Friday evening.
A stream of visitors paid their last respect to Priscilla, who was affectionately called by relatives and friends, as Pupul at her residence throughout Friday.
The mortal remains were taken to the Loutolim Church for the last rites before they were laid to rest.
A family friend of Cruz family and Nuvem MLA Aleixo Sequeira said it is a sad day for the relatives and friends after Priscilla died in Thursday’s tragic accident. “We have lost a dear friend. We all affectionately called her Pupul,” an emotional Aleixo informed.
Holding her son Azaan close to him, Aleixo said Pupul has left behind a son, 12-year old, Azaan, adding, ‘I am sure she would take care of him. May her soul rest in peace’.
Senior Congress leader and PCC general secretary Subhash Faldesai paid his respect to Priscilla at her residence. Faldesai said Priscilla was an active Congress worker, having held many posts in the party organisation, right from being the Block Youth Congress president, Block president of erstwhile Loutolim constituency, besides being a member of the district and State committee of the Congress party.
Former Loutolim Sarpanch Maria Monteiro said a pall of gloom has descended in Loutolim after the villagers heard the news of Pricilla in Thursday’s tragic accident.
She said the funeral of deceased Austin Fernandes is scheduled on Sunday as his sister is expected to come down from the UK on Saturday.
The bodies of the two brothers, Henry and Allwyn alias Harley Araujo and Austin are being preserved at the hospital mortuary.
