Karnataka’s Tushar Suveer will take on Maharashtra’s Pranay Shettigar (3) in the Under 17 Boys Singles finals, at the Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2022 at Navelim.
In the Under 17 semifinals matches at Manohar Parrikar Indoor stadium, Navelim on Friday, Tushar who had earlier knocked out number four seed Dhruv Negi (Uttarakhand) caused yet another upset, defeating top seed Sanskar Saraswat (1), Rajasthan, 21-13, 21-18 to storm into the finals.
In the other semis, Pranay was in complete control against Haryana boy Gagan, winning 21-11, 21-7.
In Under 17 Girls singles semifinals, Andhra Pradesh Girl Navya Kanderi, who had earlier stunned India International player Unnati Hooda in the quarters, could not carry the same form into the semis, losing 21-16 14-21 21-12 to Telengana’s Sreshta Reddy K in a closely fought match.
Jiya Rawat (7), HAR, defeated Aishani Tiwari, GUJ, 21-17 21-8 in the other semis.
In Boys Singles Under 15, Abhinav Garg (9), KTK, defeated Ritom Howbora, ASM, 21-12 21-16 to set up a title clash with Prateek Koundilya, KTK, who defeated Monarch Borgohain, ASM, 21-12 21-11 in the other semis.
In Girls Singles Under 15 semifinals, Naishaa Kaur Bhatoye (1), MAH, registered a 21-15 21-18 win over Ayati Dubey, GUJ. She will face the challenge of Tanvi Reddy Andluri (5), (Telengana), who defeated Punjab Girl Tanvi Sharma 21-15 21-19 in the other semis.
Navelim MLA Ullas Yashwant Tuenkar graced the semifinals.
