MAPUSA
Even as the people struggle with the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent economic hardships, the BJP-led government is adding to the burden of the common man by increasing the LPG price, said NCP General Secretary, Sanjay Barde, warning that the people of Goa would teach the BJP a lesson in the forthcoming election.
Barde also said the BJP was running scared of an opposition unity in the State and therefore, spreading falsehoods about the opposition parties.
“Within a fortnight, the cooking gas price has been hiked twice adding to the misery of the common man who is already finding it difficult to make two meet due to the ongoing Covid impact. The hike in fuel price has had a ripple effect on other consumer goods putting people on the edge,” Barde said.
The NCP general secretary along with other party members was addressing the media in Mapusa.
Barde said on one side, the BJP-led government in the State was giving free water but on the other side extracting double the amount from the common men by hiking gas and other fuel prices.
He said people were very concerned about the general rise in fuel and its ripple effect on other goods.
“People are angry but they are not coming out only because they are afraid of this vindictive government. At the right time, people will make their voice heard,” the NCP general secretary said.
He further said the NCP will make the rise in fuel price one of the main election planks at the 2022 assembly polls.
Barde said the BJP was rattled that the opposition parties were coming together to form an alliance in the State for the forthcoming assembly elections.
“The chief minister has been making statements about the opposition parties begging to form an alliance in an attempt to destabilise the alliance talks. They are aware that the moment opposition comes together their goose is cooked,” he said.
