Shivram Tukoji and Vishakha Gadekar were elected unopposed as the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson, respectively, in the Pernem Municipal Council (PMC).
The post was vacant after Chairperson Siddhesh Pednekar and Deputy Chairperson Ashwini Palayekar had resigned from their posts. The elections were held for both these posts on April 8 by convening a special meeting of the PMC.
As only one nomination was filed for each of these posts, Tukoji and Gadekar were declared elected unopposed.
Pernem Chief Officer Shubham Bhartu presided over the meeting, which was attended by Councillors Siddhesh Pednekar, Manoj Harmalkar, Usha Nagvekar, Madhav Sinai Desai, Trupti Sawal Desai, Ashwini Palayekar, and others.
Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar later congratulated the newly elected Chairperson and his Deputy.
