Claim most jobs at airport go to people from outside taluka
PERNEM
Claiming that most jobs at Mopa airport have been given to people from outside Pernem taluka, a group of locals implored Union Minister and BJP’s North Goa candidate Shripad Naik to ensure that Pednekars get jobs with airlines operating at the airport.
The locals put forth the appeal to Naik during his visit to Pernem constituency in the presence of Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar, former MLA Dayanand Sopte and other leaders.
A local, Krishna Palyekar, said there are many jobs available with the many airlines operating at Mopa airport.
Palyekar said a Goa-based regional airline, Fly91, recently began operations at Mopa Airport, while larger airlines like Indigo, Vistara, Spice Jet, etc., also operate from the airport.
“When they fill in new posts, our youth do not get these jobs. Vacant posts in these companies should be advertised, and the list should be sent to all panchayat and municipality in Pernem constituency so that local youth get these jobs,” said Palyekar.
Naik assured that he would discuss the issue with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and try to resolve the matter as soon as possible.
