PERNEM
In a bizarre incident, a police sub-inspector attached to the Pernem police station shot himself with his service revolver in a bid to end his life in his car near the check post at Naibag in Poroskodem-Pernem on Sunday morning.
PSI Gourish Malik (28) of Kudne-Bicholim was critically injured in the incident and is presently at the GMC hospital at Bambolim.
“Malik had not reported to duty on Saturday and when we tried to contact him, his mobile phone was switched off. On Sunday at about 7 am, he parked his car near the check post at Naibag-Poroskodem and shot himself with his service revolver,” said Pernem Police Inspector Devendra Gad.
“When Pernem police was informed about the incident, they rushed to spot and shifted him to the GMC hospital.”
Pernem police found suicide note in his car which stated that he was committing suicide and that no body should held responsible for his action.
“This note and his service revolver has been attached by police,” PI Gad added.
Incidentally, police sources said that Malik had not reported to duty for nearly a month while he was earlier posted at the Panaji police station.
“He was transferred to the Pernem on August 1. He would keep aloof from colleagues and would only interact with them for official work,” the police source added.
Pernem police is investigating the case.
