After more than a month, the Konkan Railway restored the route between Madure and Pernem for rail traffic. The route was closed after a portion of the tunnel at Pernem had collapsed.
The restoration work of the tunnel at Km 384/6-7 between Madure and Pernem station of Karwar region has been successfully completed and the track fit certificate was issued late Tuesday evening. Rail traffic has been restored on the line.
The Ernakulam-Delhi train was the first train to run on the track in the wee hours of Wednesday after the restoration of the track late Tuesday.
KRC Deputy General Manager Public Relations Baban Ghatge informed that the Ernakulam-Delhi has run on the repaired and restored track in the wee hours of Wednesday. He pointed out that the Delhi-Ernakulam and Netravati Express was expected to arrive at the Margao railway station on Wednesday evening.
He said train No 02284 H Nizamuddin - Ernakulam Jn Duranto Special Express dated 19 September onwards will run on proper route via Vasai Road - Panvel - Roha - Madgaon - Mangaluru Jn.
Ghatge further said that train No 02283 Ernakulam Jn - H. Nizamuddin Duranto Special Express dated 22 September onwards will run on proper route via Mangaluru Jn - Madgaon - Roha - Panvel - Vasai Road. The Train No 02432 / 02431 New Delhi - Thiruvananthapuram Central - New Delhi Rajdhani Special will resume its service from 16 September onwards.
