MARGAO
Goacan has called for the 17th September World Patient Safety Day (WPSD) 2020 theme, ‘Health Worker Safety a Priority for Patient Safety’ to be made a special focus at the new district hospital in Margao while it is being readied for Covid work.
In a letter to the Director of Health Services, Goacan pointed out that as the State is going through a difficult time with the rising number of Covid cases as well as a daily increase in related fatalities, making the WPSD 2020 theme as a special focus at the district hospital Margao will provide DHS an excellent opportunity to start an effective awareness campaign among the general public in Goa.
In its letter, Goacan coordinator Roland Martins has stated that it is also important to remember that health workers and patients are also consumers of the health services provided by DHS and therefore this awareness campaign will put the spotlight on the rights and responsibilities of the consumers.
The NGO has also requested the DHS Director to issue a special circular to the health officers of all PHCs in Goa requesting them to circulate on WhatsApp the WPSD 2020 theme and the appropriate do’s & don’ts to all members of the village health, sanitation & nutrition committee (VHSNC) in the respective panchayats.
Since 2020 is also the Year of the Nurse and the Midwife it provides DHS an opportunity to promote the WPSD 2020 theme keeping in mind the safety of all health workers and patients in Goa.
